Michelle describes her style as “clean and colorful” and seeks to bring out depth and vibrancy in her photos. Personal portraits are what she’s most known for: Senior grad pictures, family portraits, business headshots, baby pictures. However, Michelle is an avid traveller and much of her most appreciated artistic pieces come from her attempts to capture the essence of another culture living out their daily lives or the serenity of landscape settings located on distant continents.
“I want the viewer of my photos to feel like they are there, or at least, desire to be there”
In order to carry the credentials of Certified Professional Photographer, as Michelle does, a photographer must pass a comprehensive written exam measuring their technical expertise. In addition, they submit their work to a panel of judges selected by the Professional Photographic Certification Commission for review and approval. Every five years, Michelle, as a Certified Professional Photographer must renew her status by participating in several hours of continuing education to maintain a professional level of expertise.
Michelle has won many awards for photography. Her awards in 2012 alone include: Top 10 Imager Award from the Professional Photographers Association North Central District, inclusion in the Professional Photographers Association Loan Collection, Top Photographic Print in the Twin Cities PPA and two Judges Choice Awards from the Twin Cities PPA. The PPA Loan Collection award is one of great distinction and one that Michelle is particularly thrilled to have received.
