Holyoke Avenue Improvement Project

October 3 Update

Crews are pouring sidewalks along the east side of Holyoke Avenue. The sidewalk in the business district of Downtown Lakeville should be completed in the next 7 to 8 business days, and the project is scheduled to be substantially finished by the end of the month.

Watch for the installation of bike racks, benches and garbage cans on the west side of the street. Trees will be planted on both sides of the street later this month.

Holyoke Avenue remains open for traffic.

August 15 Update

Crews are pouring curbs along the west side of Holyoke Avenue, as well as working on the Lakeville Area Arts Center’s parking lot and the turn lane on the east side of the street near 210th St. Curbs are an essential part of the construction process, and depending on what type of concrete material you may have used (check out the Types Of Concrete Curbs here), they will increase the overall curb appeal of the property, and will also be durable enough to do their job effectively. Weather permitting, they’ll start pouring sidewalk on Thursday (August 17) outside of Babe’s. They’ll continue pouring sidewalk along the west side of Holyoke Avenue-moving north to south-through August 25. In some cases this may interrupt access to businesses on the west side of the street. If you have a question about how or where to access a business, please call the business.

Holyoke Avenue remains open for traffic.

August 8 Update

Work on the west side of Holyoke Avenue continues, as crews start to pour curbs, complete the infrastructure for new street lights and replace soil before planting new trees. Watch for a sample of the new sidewalk near 206th St. W. – crews expect to start pouring the sidewalk August 14 or 15.

Holyoke Avenue is open for traffic. The sidewalk on the west side of the street is closed, but pedestrians have access to all businesses on the west side of the street by using a temporary walkway and many business can be accessed through back doors. Downtown Lakeville businesses are open and operating regular hours during construction.

July 17 Update

Phase one of construction will begin on Tuesday, July 18th. To ensure that this construction project is a success, crews are using revolutionary construction project management software similar to Raken to manage all relevant tasks. Holyoke Avenue will remain open for traffic. The sidewalk on the west side of the street will be closed, but pedestrians will still have access to all businesses on the west side of the street. Downtown Lakeville businesses will remain open and operate regular hours during construction.

Holyoke Avenue is scheduled to be improved between Heritage Drive to CSAH 70/215th Street in 2017. This work includes mill and overlay of the pavement surface, spot curb and gutter replacement, streetlight replacement with City-standard fixtures (202nd – 210th) and streetscape improvements within the business district.

The City is working with the Downtown Lakeville Business Association to install gateway and wayfinding signage in the downtown area. For more information, contact Public Works Director Chris Petree by email or call 952-985-2700.
